Updating my teenage daughter’s attic bedroom

When my daughters were younger I loved decorating their bedrooms/nursery. It’s a little different now they are older. They have their own style and they like an input on how I decorate the room.

Rachel who is 15 almost 16 loves minimalist style. She likes grey and pink and silver shiny stuff. Everything I don’t like. So we had to come to a compromise when we redecorated her attic bedroom. Especially because the little snug that leads into her room was painted navy with William Morris seaweed wallpaper. My style!!

Pretty in pink

So we decided on pale pink. This pink is called Beag by Colourtrend paint. The ceiling was pink so we just painted the walls to match it up. I also painted her bed yellow. It was a oak wood veneer.

I had a carpenter hang the Nittedal boho swing chair in her bedroom. This chair is from JYSK https://jysk.ie/garden/hammocks/hanging-chair-nittedal-w83xl83-white This fabulous boho style swing chair is bolted into a wooden roof beam. I love it!! I added some wool tassels to the bottom. I also added fairy lights and a sheepskin rug and a few cushions.

I picked up this wicker magazine rack in a charity shop for 5 euro. I always have to make something my self for a room when I’m re decorating. I made the wall hanging and the punch needle cushion with the letter R and pom poms around it. I think if something is handmade it gives a room a homely feel to it.

Handmade wall hanging

I have a DIY on how you can make this wool wallhanging on my blog herehttps://aproudhome.ie/tassel-wall-hanging/ They are so easy to make and don’t need any craft skills to make them.

Bed before
Bed After

Before I painted the bed I wiped it down with a damp cloth and primed it. Then it applied three coats of top coat Yellow. I love this bed. It is a real feature in Rachel’s bedroom. The pink and yellow combo is just beautiful.

Pale pink ceiling and walls

A lot of the doors in my home are painted different colours each side to suit the colour scheme in each room.

I have painted the door inside the attic pale pink and the opposite side of the door is navy to match the decor in the snug.
