The benefits of having plants in your home.

I never actually thought about the benefits of having plants in my home. I just bought plants because I thought they would look nice. I was more obsessed with the plant pot. I love a really colorful quirky plant pot. I am all over the seagrass baskets at the minute. Punch needling them.

Fridays I water my plants

I found as I was buying more plants a few weeks/months later I was dumping them the brown bin. I couldn’t keep them alive. I went through a phase of buying faux plants. You can get some really nice faux plants but I like the idea of bringing home a plant nurturing it, watering it , minding it keeping it alive and watching it grow. I didn’t get this from my faux plants.

So, now I buy plants that are easy to maintain. One plant I can never keep alive are ferns. I love how they look but they do not thrive for me. So I stopped buying them. I literally had to hoover every time I touched it. All the leaves just fall off and die.

My new addition to my plant family

I recently got a hanging plant called Philodendron. I researched how to look after it so I am determined to keep this one alive. This is the long creeper on the right. I water this once a week and it likes light. The plant on the left is called a lipstick plant. It flowers once a year. The flowers are red and they look like red lipstick. Hence the name. I was looking for easy maintenance plants that will look good and thrive in my bathroom.

So the benefits of having plants in your home are;

Countless clinical studies have proved that plants are indeed good to reduce stress, anxiety and fatigue.

Plants convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, but we do tend to overlook how this helps us and purify the air at our home. In addition to this plants have the ability to increase humidity.

Studies have also proven that indoor plants  improve concentration and productivity (by up to 15 percent!), reduce stress levels and boost your mood making them perfect for not just your home but your work space, too.

I am no expert on house plants. But I am so interested in the benefits of having plants in your home. I am learning about different plants and buying books to educate myself.
